Questions, answered plainly.
Is $2,699 really the whole price?
Yes for a standard install. Tax, permit, equipment, and the plumber are in it. See the scope sheet on the pricing page for the few things that cost more.
Do you test my water?
No. Columbus publishes its water report and we read it. Wells are different and need a third-party test, which we arrange.
Do I need a softener at all in Columbus?
Columbus water is moderately hard, 5.7 to 7.3 grains per gallon. The benefit of softening is fixtures, appliances, and soap. If you only care about taste at the kitchen sink, the $799 RO-only package may be all you want.
What is the difference between whole-home filtration and reverse osmosis?
Whole-home treats every tap: softening and carbon at the point where water enters the house. Reverse osmosis is a small system under the kitchen sink for drinking and cooking water only.
Standard vs Plus, what am I paying $800 more for?
A second tank. Plus separates carbon into its own catalytic carbon tank, adds UV, and the media lasts longer, 12 to 15 years instead of 8 to 10. It is easier to service and handles chloramine as well as chlorine.
What does the carbon do, and does it handle chloramine?
Carbon removes chlorine taste and smell. Columbus uses chlorine, not chloramine, so Standard carbon is a match. If your utility uses chloramine, catalytic carbon in the Plus package handles both.
Do you treat well water?
Yes. The Well package starts at $4,499 and is quoted after a third-party test, because iron and sediment vary a lot from well to well.
How long does the install take?
Three to five hours. Water is off for about one of them. Scheduling is usually 7 to 10 days from deposit.
What maintenance does each package need, and what does it cost per year?
Standard: salt, about $60 to 100 a year, plus RO filters, about $80 a year. Plus: the same plus a UV lamp every year, about $90. Well: per your test. RO only: filters, about $80 a year. You can do all of it yourself and we show you how.
Do you offer financing?
Yes, through Wisetack. About $79 a month for Standard with approved credit. No prepayment penalty.
What happens if my house is unusual?
Crawlspace, no outlet, no drain nearby: priced from the public scope sheet before you commit. You see the number first.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Three days after deposit, any reason, full refund.
Who does the install?
A licensed Ohio plumber, on his own license and insurance, with a permit pulled for every job.
